The federal government is doing what once had been unthinkable: Building a new stretch of pipeline and draining more water from the Columbia River system to aid farmers. The pipeline is approved to carry just a trickle, but will be designed to handle much more water than that. New proposals would dramatically increase the amount of river water provided to Columbia Basin farmers.

District II candidates come forward as election fast approaches (WIS News 10 Columbia)

The state attorney general’s office says it will be Monday at the earliest before any decision on the date set for a Columbia City Council election. That election has been scheduled for April 6, pending the attorney general’s opinion. Meanwhile, another longtime District II resident is considering a run for the seat.
