Though residents in all U.S. states evaluated the economy negatively in 2009, economic confidence was highest on average in the District of Columbia and South Dakota, and lowest in Wyoming, Michigan, West Virginia, and Nevada. Virginia and West Virginia officials urge motorists to be cautious (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Residents in storm-ravaged areas of Virginia and West Virginia were urged on Super Bowl Sunday to use extreme caution while traveling—or just stay indoors—as highway crews continued the cumbersome task of clearing snow from roads. As some residents ventured out to Super Bowl parties, officials said roads likely would refreeze last night despite already being treated and plowed.
